BrightKidsHub exists because I couldn’t find honest, jargon-free reviews from someone who actually tested apps with their own kids.
Why I Started This Site
Last year when my son started 1st grade, I was overwhelmed. There were hundreds of educational apps claiming to be the best — but most reviews were either written by tech bloggers without kids, or by companies reviewing their own products.
I wanted a site like NerdWallet or Wirecutter — but for kids’ learning apps. Honest, research-backed, and written by a real parent who cared.
So I built it myself.
What We Do
Every app on BrightKidsHub has been downloaded, tested for at least two weeks, and used by real elementary-age kids (ages 6–10). We check curriculum alignment, privacy policies, subscription value, and — most importantly — whether kids actually enjoy using them.
We also consult with elementary school teachers and child development resources to make sure our ratings reflect genuine educational value, not just engagement metrics.
Independent & Honest
Our ratings are never influenced by paid placements or affiliate relationships.
Kid-Tested
Real kids use every app we review. Their reactions matter as much as our adult analysis.
Curriculum-Aligned
We check every app against Common Core, SOLs and grade-level learning objectives.
Kept Up to Date
Apps change. We re-review and update our ratings when apps add or remove features.
